Tsunami and earthquake in the Indian ocean

The earthquake and tsunami in the Indian ocean was one of the worst natural  disasters in modern history.The earthquake was 9,1-9,3 richters and happened north at the Sountara island.After the earthquake, a tsunami reached 30m and stopped at the east of Africa.            

This happened on 26 December 2004. 280.000 people died. The people who survived moved to other areas.                      

A lot of hotels,shops and houses were destroyed.There were many tremors after the earthquake.The people were worried about epidemics around the area.

  In my country we don’t have volcanos, but we do have earthquakes. I live in Heraklion on the island of Crete Greece. This place is very beautiful.

  In 2015 a big earthquake happened, which destroyed lots of houses. My family was very scared, because their houses disappeared! Other people were scared too. But not everyone was so lucky. Sadly, a lot of people died and the earthquake caused great destruction. 
   After the earthquake all the people built new houses and Heraklion started being the same again after a lot of time and effort.
